Want A Successful Business? Don’t Leave Your Life Behind.

HELLO COACH!

This post is for all my fellow coaches who are feeling stuck. (Ohhhhhhh, how I know that feeling!)

your body is your businessMaybe it’s your niche that’s got you spinning.

Maybe it’s your mom.

Maybe you don’t have enough clients.

Maybe you’re struggling with your weight.

Whatever “it” is, you can be sure it’s having a domino effect on your whole life.

Here’s what I’ve learned…

Working on our businesses must take place while we take care of our bodies and all the other lovely parts of our lives.

In other words, working on your business is never an excuse to let your body go, spend less time with people you love, or to stop walking the dog!

Of course, when we’re first starting out we want to throw ourselves into our work full throttle. At some point, however, we must re-group and ask ourselves, “Am I neglecting myself and using my business as an excuse to do so?”

If the answer is yes (and it most probably is), it’s time to regroup.  Push that reset button. Come up for air.

Get back to loving yourself… it’s the only true path to success.

If you’re struggling to nail down your niche, I’ll bet you’re undecided in other parts of your life.

If you’re struggling to lose weight, I’ll bet your coaching business is also feeling “heavy.”

Business. Personal. It’s all connected. And focusing on one aspect of our lives over all others is going to take you away from true “success.”

When our business starts taking up too much space in our lives it’s a sign we need to put it on a diet.

Here’s how:

1. Get out your calendar and block off some “Me Time.” Spend some time each day to move your body. Start with 5 minutes if you have to and work your way up to 30 minutes each day. (Yes, Me Time can be as short as 5 minutes.)

2. Next, block off your “Business Hours” and assign tasks for each block of time.

3. Stop when time is up. Use a timer or a time management system if you have to but stop you must!

Eventually you’ll see how much more work you can get done when you know you only have so much time.

Oh, and these blocks NEVER include time to play on social media. This is work time, not to be confused with play time.

If you’re wondering what you should be doing during work time, start by making sure you’ve checked off everything on my 46 STEPS checklist (see below) based on my book, Gutsy Glorious Life Coach: How to Turn Your Coaching Practice Into A Souful Money-Making Business. Having a checklist will give you structure. Having business hours will teach you discipline.

Remember, your body is your business. Don’t leave it behind.
