I love women with GUTS.
They’re a joy to be around. They challenge each other to Woman UP.
Are You a Member of “The 20% Gutsy”?
These are the women who start businesses and don’t quit.
80% of new businesses close within 2 years.
The GUTSY ONES are never part of that statistic.
They’re the ones who get up more times than they fall down. The 20% gutsy don’t take “I quit” for an answer.
The 20 percent gutsy are in it for the long haul.
What’s driving them?
The 20% Gutsy Want to OWN Their Lives
When a woman owns a business she owns her life. She owns her time. She owns her money. She has decision-making power. If she’s organizing her life around other people’s calendars or she’s not able to make big decisions about money that impact her joy, then she doesn’t really own her life. She’s more like a puppet. Being a puppet sucks. I oughta know. I was once such a good puppet.
The 20% gutsy refuse to not make it work.
Starting a business sounds glamorous… it sounds exciting. It sounds powerful. And the internet makes it look easy.
It’s not.
That is, if you think “easy” means all you have to do is throw up a website and clients will come knocking. (I’m embarrassed to say, that was once me. Oh dear.)
Don’t confuse expecting things to be easy with learning how to do hard things with ease.
When we don’t figure out how to do business with ease, we’re likely to go back to old thought habits (“This is way too hard”) instead of challenging ourselves to Woman UP (think UP) and become higher versions of ourselves (“I am more than capable of figuring this out.”)
The 20% Gutsy have learned a few things about themselves. They understand that in order to do better, they have to feel better, and in order to feel better, they have to think better.
How can we expect to truly own our lives if we can’t figure out how to become the kind of women who have actual control over our time, our money, and our joy?
It’s simply not possible, whether we’re building businesses or relationships.
The 20% Gutsy are ruthless when it comes to becoming.
They are relentless in the pursuit of their dreams.
They are like a hungry dog on a t-bone… you’ll never get that bone away from them.
Are they crazy? Maybe. That’s the word Steve Jobs chose to use.
But I prefer gutsy. I have a particular fondness for gutsy women because when they set out to do something, whether it’s to build a business or improve the quality of their relationships, they do it. They’re not done until the gutsy lady sings.
“Here’s to the [gutsy] ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes … the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status quo… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the people who are crazy [and gutsy] enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ~Steve Jobs, 1997
